Summary

About the Team

Have you ever wondered who decides where traffic signs go, how road markings are designed, or how roads are made safer for everyone who uses them?

We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Career Grade Technician to join our Traffic Signs and Road Markings Team.

Our team designs and manages the signs and road markings that help keep Lincolnshire moving safely and efficiently. Whether it's a new housing development, a school crossing, a cycle route, a speed limit change, or a major highway improvement scheme, we play an important role in shaping the county's road network.

You'll be joining a friendly and experienced team who will support your development and help you build a rewarding career in engineering and highway design.

About the Role

This is an ideal role for school leavers, college students, or anyone looking to start a career in engineering, design, or highways.

As a Career Grade Technician, you'll learn how traffic signs and road markings are designed, specified and delivered on the highway network. You don't need previous experience, just an interest in learning, problem-solving and making a difference.

You'll work alongside experienced engineers and technicians to:

Assist with the design of traffic signs and road marking schemes.

Use computer software to prepare drawings and layouts.

Carry out surveys on the highway network.

Help assess road safety and traffic management requirements.

Support the delivery of schemes from initial design through to installation.

Visit sites to inspect completed works and monitor progress.

Work with contractors, developers and other organisations involved in highway projects.

Help maintain records of highway assets and infrastructure.

Learn about traffic regulations, road safety standards and engineering best practice.

Develop technical and professional skills through training and workplace experience.

No two days are the same. One day you could be helping design signs for a new housing development, and the next you could be visiting site to see your designs being installed on the highway.

What We Can Offer You

This is more than just a job. It's the start of a career.

We'll provide:

On-the-job training from experienced professionals.

Support to gain industry and professional qualifications.

Opportunities to progress through the Career Grade structure.

Experience of working on real projects that improve road safety and local communities.

A friendly and supportive working environment.

Flexible working arrangements and excellent employee benefits.

If you're interested in technology, design, engineering and solving real-world problems, we'd love to hear from you.

You will need the ability to travel across the county in order to meet the needs of the service.

Join us and help shape the signs and road markings that keep Lincolnshire moving safely every day.
