We are looking for a proactive and user-focused IT Field Engineer to join our growing Garden Centre group. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on IT professional who enjoys a varied role across support, installations, upgrades and project delivery.
Reporting to the IT Manager, the successful candidate will support and maintain existing infrastructure, assist with new store acquisitions and deliver technology improvements across multiple locations throughout the UK. The role requires a practical problem-solver who can work independently on site, communicate clearly with end users and maintain high standards of service and documentation.
The role is based at our Northern Head Office in Brigg, with frequent travel to sites nationwide. Flexibility to travel and stay away overnight when required is essential.
Role Responsibilities
• Install, configure, maintain and support IT hardware and infrastructure across stores, operations and office locations, including computers, tills, printers, phones, switches, routers and wireless equipment.
• Travel to sites nationwide to carry out installations, equipment replacements, upgrades, fault diagnosis and repairs with minimal disruption to business operations. Support new store acquisitions and refurbishments by preparing, deploying and testing IT equipment and network connectivity.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software and network issues on site, escalating more complex problems where appropriate and ensuring timely resolution.
• Assist with user support for core business systems and Microsoft technologies, including Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 applications. Carry out basic network cabling, patching and tests to support reliable site infrastructure.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, asset movements, repairs, site visits and technical documentation.
• Work closely with the wider IT team, third-party suppliers and site managers to deliver support, upgrades and project work to a high standard.
• Follow company health and safety procedures when working on site, using tools, lifting equipment and carrying out physical installations. Provide a professional and user-focused service, building positive working relationships with colleagues across the business.
