Vale, Valleys and Cardiff Adoption Collaborative (VVC) is one of five regional Collaboratives which form part of the National Adoption Service in Wales. It performs a range of Adoption Agency functions on behalf of Merthyr Tydfil CBC, RCT CBC, Cardiff Council and Vale of Glamorgan Council. The collaborative is responsible for the recruitment and assessment of adopters, the matching and placement of children with adoptive families and provides a range of support services for adopted adults and adoptive families.

About the role
Pay Details: Grade 8 SCP 26 – 30 £37,280 to £40,777 / Grade 9 SCP 31 – 35 £41,771 to £46,142
Salary on appointment will depend upon qualification and experience as determined by the appointing officer.
There is no automatic progression from Grade 8 to Grade 9.
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week

Description:
To take responsibility for embedding best practice approaches to the placement of children for adoption.
To directly work with children where an adoptive match has been identified and to deliver structured intervention supporting them through the transitions process. To provide ongoing support and direct intervention as required to support children post-placement.
To have lead responsibility for assisting Social Workers in developing transition plans according to individual need and in standardising practice across the region.
To assist in co-ordinating Understanding the Child Days for children being placed for adoption ensuring that children and adoptive families are provided with a comprehensive narrative relating to the child’s background and history, including the completion of Trauma Nurture Timelines.
About you
You will need:
A good standard of general education.
A recognised Degree/Diploma or equivalent qualification in Social Work i.e. Degree, DipSW, CQSW etc.
Registration with the Care Council
Post qualifying experience of statutory childcare social work
Post qualifying experience of working with children in the looked after system and adoption.
Post qualifying experience of preparing children for transition/ adoption
Post qualifying experience of presenting written and verbal information to Court and other forums.
Experience of working in a team.
Experience of working with other professionals and agencies.
