TeacherActive is currently recruiting Residential Support Workers to work within residential and specialist settings across
Colchester and the surrounding areas, supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs.
The Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play an important role in creating a
safe, supportive and nurturing environment for the young people in your care.
Your responsibilities may include:
•
Supporting children and young people with their day-to-day routines
•
Providing emotional and practical support
•
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive life skills
•
Building trusting and professional relationships with young people
•
Supporting individuals with SEND, SEMH and challenging behaviours
•
Helping young people access education, activities and the local community
•
Following individual care and support plans
•
Maintaining accurate records and reporting any concerns appropriately
•
Working closely with colleagues and other professionals to provide consistent support
•
Promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and positive outcomes at all times
The Ideal Candidate

Have experience working with children or young people in residential care, SEND, education, youth work or a similar setting
•
Are patient, compassionate and resilient
•
Can remain calm and professional in challenging situations
•
Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
•
Are comfortable working as part of a team

Have a genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people
•
Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Previous residential support experience is desirable; however, candidates with transferable experience from
care, SEND, education, youth work or support work are also encouraged to apply.
