Shrewsbury School is a leading independent school forpupils aged 13–18, with a busy catering operation serving around 2,200 pupilsand staff, three meals a day, seven days a week.

What You’llDo:

Working alongside our experienced craft team, you’llhelp deliver fresh, nutritious and well-presented food to a consistently highstandard.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and presenting food as directed by the Chef team, ensuring excellent quality, flavour and presentation.
  • Supporting the smooth and timely preparation and service of meals.
  • Serving pupils, staff and customers in a friendly, professional and efficient manner.
  • Replenishing food and equipment throughout service to maintain a seamless operation.
  • Following food safety, hygiene, allergen, COSHH, fire and health & safety procedures always.
  • Supporting catering for school events and functions, including set-up, service, clearing and cleaning.
  • Working with colleagues to maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen and service environment.
  • Reporting any food safety concerns, accidents, near misses, damage or other issues promptly to the Head Chef or Manager.
  • Taking part in training and following Sodexo policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Supporting other local Sodexo sites in an emergency where required.
  • Being flexible and carrying out reasonable requests from management to help the team deliver an excellent service.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy kitchen environment.
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to support across different areas when needed.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and hygiene.
  • A calm and professional approach under pressure.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery or equivalent is desirable, although full training and apprenticeship opportunities can be provided.
  • A good sense of humour and a willingness to contribute to a supportive and friendly team culture.
