** Background

This position is based in the busy Student Health and Wellbeing Department which serves students from a variety of academic schools. The appointed counsellor will work closely with counselling colleagues and also colleagues in the wider team and university, to provide a professional, high-calibre and culturally competent specialist integrative student counselling service.

** Responsibilities

The post-holder will conduct counselling assessments, including the assessment of risk. They will be responsible for providing on-going counselling sessions, negotiating contract length within a short-term framework. They will manage their caseload in accordance with service guidelines and to preserve a balance of appointment type. They will manage student risk and complexity, liaising with internal and external support where needed. They will be an active member of the counselling team and wider MDT, working on related projects as required.
