Assistant Farm Manager - Suffolk - £40,000 + Accommodation
The Job:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced crop production professional to join a progressive farming business in Suffolk as an Assistant Farm Manager. Working closely with the Farm Owners and wider management team, you’ll support the day to day running of a large scale farming operation, with responsibility across crop production, people management, irrigation, storage, machinery and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the management of full-time, casual and contract labour
- Assist with rotation planning, crop inputs and agronomic programmes
- Coordinate spraying, fertiliser applications and crop management
- Manage irrigation scheduling, water prioritisation and abstraction compliance
- Support crop storage and store planning
- Maintain crop assurance standards and assist with audits
- Plan machinery hire and contribute to machinery replacement decisions
- Assist with farm budgets, record keeping and performance monitoring
- Oversee wider estate maintenance including drainage, hedging, ditches and tracks
- Support health & safety procedures, inductions and contractor compliance
- Work closely with the management team to ensure efficient farm operations

The Candidate
- Strong commercial crop production experience
- Experience managing labour and contractors
- Good understanding of agronomy, crop inputs and rotation planning
- Experience with crop walking and day-to-day crop management
- Strong irrigation management knowledge
- Understanding of crop storage and post-harvest management
- Knowledge of crop assurance and audit requirements
- Strong organisational, planning and communication skills
- Good health & safety awareness
- Confident working alongside owners and senior management
- Full UK driving licence
