Summary

Electrician

Contract: Government

Location: Blackburn, BB2 7LF

Hours of work: Monday - Friday (40 hours) + on-call (1 in 5 weeks - access to pool van)

Contract Type: Permanent

We are looking for an experienced Reactive Maintenance Electrician to join a high-security government office environment, delivering electrical, PPM and reactive maintenance across the site.

Job Description

This is an electrical-bias, multi-skilled role for someone confident in electrical fault finding, repairs and planned maintenance, with the ability to support wider building services and fabric maintenance.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining the site’s infrastructure, responding to faults and ensuring facilities remain safe, compliant and operational.

Security Clearance: Due to the nature of the site, you must be willing and able to obtain SC Security Clearance & then EDV clearance thereafter. The EDV process is significantly more intrusive and can take approximately 5-6 months to complete. You must therefore be comfortable committing to the full clearance process and working within a high-security environment.

Key Responsibilities

Carrying out electrical PPM, planned and reactive maintenance.

Fault finding, diagnosis, repair and installation of electrical systems and equipment.

Undertaking a range of multi-skilled building services maintenance, including basic mechanical, HVAC and building fabric tasks.

Responding to reactive maintenance requests within agreed timescales.

Supporting the client with day-to-day maintenance requirements.

Completing inspections, testing and maintenance in line with relevant standards and procedures.

Working safely and in accordance with risk assessments, method statements and site procedures.

Maintaining accurate records of work completed.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

Recognised NVQ Level 3 electrical qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent.

18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) + ECS Card.

Strong experience in electrical maintenance, fault finding and repair.

A genuine multi-skilled capability and willingness to undertake wider building services tasks.

Good understanding of Health & Safety, RAMS and safe systems of work.

Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points).

Ability and willingness to obtain SC and subsequently EDV clearance.

If you’re an experienced Electrician looking for a stable role within a professional, high-security environment, we’d like to hear from you. Apply today to find out more.
