Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

As an Apprentice SSA you will work with the classroom teacher to support students’ independent learning and progress in accordance with the national curriculum and with behaviour management strategies. You will help prepare resources and the classroom for planned activities. You will work as part of a team to support the teacher.

You will be supported in the workplace and receive training and materials. Regular on-site meetings with your apprenticeship tutor will help you successfully complete the apprenticeship.

At the end of your contract, if you have performed well on your apprenticeship, you should be in a good position to be considered for a permanent role.

Our Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship will help you to:

• Gain a nationally recognised Level 2 apprenticeship at no cost to you

• Work towards a Level 2 English and maths if you do not have GCSEs grade C/4, at no cost to you

• Receive training focused on supporting student progress and development aligned to the curriculum

• Develop an understanding of how to actively support the class teacher

• Safeguard students and build a positive and nurturing environment

• Build confidence supporting students with special education needs, EAL or SEMH

• Contribute to planning, class activities and team meetings
