Summary

Are you currently working in an SEN school, PRU, Alternative Provision or SEMH setting and open to hearing about opportunities in mainstream education?

Hays Education is working in partnership with a growing number of inclusive primary schools across Sandwell, including West Bromwich, Smethwick, Oldbury, Tipton, Wednesbury, Rowley Regis and surrounding areas.

With the increasing demand for SEN support in mainstream education, many schools have recently established their own specialist SEN resource bases, nurture provisions and enhanced support hubs. As a result, they are seeking experienced Teaching Assistants who can bring their specialist knowledge and skills into a mainstream environment.

Why consider a move to mainstream?

Your experience is highly sought after. Schools are looking for Teaching Assistants who understand how to support children with autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviours.

A move to mainstream could allow you to:

  • Use your specialist SEN skills to support a wider range of pupils
  • Make a positive impact across a whole school community
  • Work within dedicated SEN resource bases while also supporting inclusion in mainstream classrooms
  • Gain broader experience to support future career progression
  • Become part of a school's long-term inclusion strategy
  • Build strong relationships with pupils as they access mainstream education with specialist support
  • Develop new skills working alongside teachers, SENCOs and wider pastoral teams

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working within an SEN school, PRU, Alternative Provision or SEMH setting
  • A passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Recent experience working with children in the UK that can be referenced

What you'll get in return

  • Opportunities across a wide range of primary schools throughout Sandwell
  • Long-term, temporary and permanent roles
  • Competitive rates of pay
  • Access to schools with new SEN resource bases and specialist provisions
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Hays Education consultant
  • Access to the GCA Framework approved supplier network
  • £250 in Hays Rewards when you successfully refer a friend
