Summary

Transition Mentor

Do you want to make a difference to children in care?

Newcastle College is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Transition Mentor to join a passionate team that supports looked after children to progress into further education.

You will work with young people in schools, including unaccompanied asylum seekers, helping them to make positive choices about their education and transition successfully from Year 11 into Newcastle College.

You will work with young people at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), delivering tailored, person-centred support to help them overcome barriers, raise aspirations and build the confidence needed to succeed and progress.

As the successful candidate, you will be an enthusiastic and adaptable person, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to inclusive education. You will have Level 2 English & Maths or equivalent and be able to work flexibly. A clean driving license and access to your own transport is essential.
