The Opportunity

An independent small animal veterinary practice is looking for an experienced

Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join its growing team across

Middlesbrough and Darlington, with a start date around

Christmas 2026.

The role would suit an experienced RVN who may have previous

Head Veterinary Nurse or senior nursing experience, as well as an RVN who is keen to take the next step in their career and develop their leadership skills.

The practice is a

training practice, meaning the team regularly works with veterinary students and places a strong emphasis on teaching, mentoring and sharing knowledge. This provides an excellent opportunity for a confident RVN to become involved in supporting the next generation of veterinary professionals.

The practice is also genuinely flexible when it comes to working patterns. While the standard rota is

four 10-hour shifts per week, alternative arrangements can be considered, including part-time and term-time-only working.

The Practice

Opened recently, the modern, purpose-built independent practice has quickly established itself as a busy and well-regarded small animal clinic and continues to grow.

The practice offers excellent facilities, including:

• Advanced ultrasound

• Digital X-ray

• Two fully equipped theatres

• Dedicated dental suite, with dental X-ray being introduced

• Orthopaedic equipment

• Separate cat and dog waiting areas

• Dedicated pharmacy support

• Strong nurse-led workflow and thorough case handovers

What They're Looking For

The practice is seeking a

Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) who is confident, compassionate and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.

Previous senior or Head Nurse experience would be advantageous, although the practice is also happy to consider an experienced RVN who is ready to develop their leadership skills with the right support.

The Rota

The standard working pattern is

four 10-hour shifts per week, with

no weekends and no bank holidays.

The practice is particularly flexible and will consider different working arrangements, including

part-time hours and term-time-only contracts, making this an excellent opportunity for an RVN looking for a role that fits around their lifestyle.
