Job Opportunity: Part-Time Library Assistant -Belfast

We are currently seeking a

temporary, ongoing part-time Library Assistant for our public sector client based in Belfast

Library. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a community-focused environment.

Working Pattern

This role operates on a two-week rota:

Week 1

Monday: No hours

Tuesday: 9:00 - 17:30

Wednesday: No hours

Thursday: No hours

Friday: 9:00 - 17:30

Saturday: 10:00 - 16:30

Week 2

Monday: No hours

Tuesday: No hours

Wednesday: 9:30 - 17:30

Thursday : No hours

Friday: 9:00 - 17:30

Saturday: No hours

Week 3

Monday: No hours

Tuesday: 9:00 - 17:30

Wednesday: No hours

Thursday : 9:00 - 17:00

Friday: 9:00 - 17:30

Saturday: No hours

Week 4

Monday: No hours

Tuesday: No hours

Wednesday: 9:30 - 17:30

Thursday : No hours

Friday: 9:00 - 17:30

Saturday: No hours

Rate of Pay:

£13.63 per hour & Saturday rate £20.45 per hour

Duties Include:

Handling client queries using print and electronic resources

Registering clients and explaining library services

Enforcing library rules and regulations

Delivering services that support learning, leisure, and cultural needs of the local community

Conducting rhythm & rhyme & storyboard with primary school children

✅ Essential Criteria:

5 GCSEs including English Language and Maths (Grade C or equivalent)

Minimum 1 year's experience in a face-to-face public service role

Experience working with young children and elderly people

Proficient in using ICT to access and manage information

Must hold an

Enhanced AccessNI clearance (Child's Barring List)

Experience working in a team environment
