An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transport Planner to join a well-established and growing business based in Larne. This role is ideal for an organised and proactive individual with experience in transport, logistics, or a fast-paced administrative environment who enjoys problem-solving and coordinating daily operations.
The Role
As a Transport Planner, you will play a key role in ensuring efficient and cost-effective delivery operations. Working closely with drivers, customers, and internal teams, you will be responsible for planning routes, managing schedules, and maintaining high service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and schedule customer deliveries, allocating vehicles and drivers effectively.
Create efficient and cost-effective transport routes.
Liaise with drivers, sales teams, and customers regarding delivery schedules and arrival times.
Manage changes to transport plans and communicate updates to all relevant parties.
Resolve delivery issues, delays, traffic disruptions, and capacity challenges in a calm and professional manner.
Ensure compliance with transport legislation, company safety procedures, and driver hours regulations.
Maintain accurate records and update transport management systems.
Produce reports and support the wider logistics operation with administrative duties.
Essential Criteria
Recent experience within transport planning, logistics coordination, dispatch, or a busy administration role.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Good IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office and logistics/transport systems.
Excellent local geographical knowledge.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Clear communication skills with the ability to build relationships with drivers, customers, and colleagues.
Proactive, team-oriented approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
