Summary

Manage a small caseload of children subject to Child Protection Plans.

Work with children and families from the Initial Child Protection Conference (ICPC) stage onwards.

Assess children’s needs, risks and circumstances and identify appropriate interventions.

Develop, implement and regularly review Child Protection Plans.

Monitor the progress of children during the first three months of Child Protection registration.

Undertake statutory visits to children and ensure their welfare and safety are regularly assessed.

Build effective working relationships with children, parents, carers and wider family members.

Work directly with families to reduce identified risks and improve outcomes for children.

Attend and contribute to Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups and other professional meetings.

Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police and other agencies involved with children and families.

Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive case records and professional assessments.

Respond to Social Work Duty responsibilities, including assessing and responding to new referrals and safeguarding concerns.

Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding risks, taking immediate action where a child may be at risk of significant harm.

Prepare reports, assessments and relevant documentation for meetings, reviews and court proceedings where required.

Work within relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures, professional standards and local authority policies to promote the safety and wellbeing of children.
