Summary

The post also offers opportunities to participate in teaching, simulation, audit, quality improvement and multidisciplinary learning, providing an excellent foundation for doctors wishing to develop a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or broaden their acute care experience. The post holder will provide clinical care at a competency level equivalent to foundation doctor. The role includes full participation in a 1:8 on-call rota, as approved locally by University Hospital of North Durham. Duties within the job plan will be balanced against service commitments to ensure compliance with the European Working Time Directive. Clinical responsibilities will include work on the labour ward, antenatal clinics, and ward rounds across antenatal, postnatal, and gynaecology wards. The post holder will be working in gynaecology outpatient clinics, contribute to day case and inpatient operating lists, and participate in acute gynaecology services. In addition, the role includes attendance at robotic surgery sessions at Darlington Memorial Hospital and providing cover for the Pregnancy Assessment Area, where BSOTS (Birmingham Symptom-specific Obstetric Triage System) is utilised.
