Summary

This role offers a varied mix of acute obstetrics and gynaecology within a supportive multidisciplinary environment. The successful applicant will spend the majority of their time working in the Pregnancy Assessment Unit, providing senior clinical input alongside the midwifery team to assess and manage women presenting with pregnancy-related concerns. The role involves undertaking clinical assessments, reviewing maternal and fetal wellbeing, including interpretation of CTGs, formulating management plans, coordinating ongoing care and responding to obstetric emergencies in collaboration with the on-call registrar and consultant obstetrician. In addition to the Pregnancy Assessment Unit, the post includes regular experience across the wider Obstetrics and Gynaecology department, including elective and emergency theatre sessions, antenatal and gynaecology outpatient clinics, labour ward and obstetric and gynaecology on-call commitments, depending on experience and competency. There will be opportunities to gain experience in advanced gynaecological surgery, including robotic theatre lists, while maintaining a broad range of clinical skills. The role also provides opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary teaching, clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives, making it ideal for a clinician wishing to develop both their clinical expertise and leadership skills. The post is based on a 40-hour working week, with a flexible schedule that can be tailored to departmental needs and the successful candidate, including variation in daily hours and the option of weekend working where appropriate.
