Summary
DC Personnel are looking for a Mechanic / Vehicle Technician in the LE11 area.
Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire
Salary: Up to £40,000 DOE
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00pm Permanent
We’re looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join a busy, modern workshop in Loughborough.
This role would suit someone with several years’ hands-on experience in the motor trade who is confident working independently and can hit the ground running.
The client already has a number of younger technicians in training, so they are particularly looking for someone who can bring experience to the team, take responsibility for their own workload and get on with the job without needing to be closely supervised or extensively trained.
The right person will be practical, reliable and professional, with a strong mechanical background and the confidence to diagnose, repair and service vehicles to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs across a range of vehicles
• Diagnose and resolve vehicle faults efficiently and accurately
• Carry out mechanical and electrical fault-finding where required
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults
• Complete repairs to a high standard and within appropriate timeframes
• Carry out vehicle health checks and identify any additional work required
• Complete job cards and workshop documentation accurately
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety and productivity
• Manage your own workload and work independently without requiring close supervision
• Work effectively as part of a busy workshop team
• Support less experienced technicians where appropriate, sharing practical knowledge and experience
• Keep up to date with developments in vehicle technology and manufacturer training
About You:
We’re looking for someone who has strong, practical experience in the motor trade and is confident getting on with day-to-day workshop work without needing significant training or supervision.
You should be:
An experienced Vehicle Technician, Vehicle Mechanic, Motor Vehicle Technician or similar
Confident carrying out servicing, maintenance and general mechanical repairs independently
Experienced in diagnosing and fault-finding vehicle problems
Comfortable using vehicle diagnostic equipment
Able to work methodically and take responsibility for completing jobs to a good standard
Reliable, punctual and professional in your approach to work
Comfortable working independently and as part of a busy team
Someone who takes pride in their work and can be trusted to get on with the job
A full UK driving licence holder
Formal automotive qualifications are desirable but are not the main consideration for this position. The client is particularly interested in practical experience, proven ability and someone who can work confidently without being constantly managed.
An MOT Tester qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.

Qualifications:
Qualifications are not the priority for this position.
The key requirement is proven, hands-on experience in a workshop environment and the ability to work independently.
• Several years' experience working as a Vehicle Technician, Vehicle Mechanic or similar
• Strong practical mechanical repair and fault-finding experience
• Experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment
• Full UK driving licence
• NVQ/IMI Level 3 or equivalent is desirable but not essential
• MOT Tester qualification is desirable but not essential
• A reliable, hardworking and professional approach
