Summary

We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Personal Assistant (PA) to provide support to a friendly and active 25-year-old gentleman with Autism, ADHD, a learning disability and joint hypermobility. This role is primarily to provide respite care for his full-time carers, mainly covering occasional weekends from Friday to Monday, although additional days may be available by mutual agreement. The role includes occasional overnight or live-in support. With agreement, overnight support could potentially take place at the PA's home if suitable.

You will play an important role in enabling him to live an active, fulfilling life, supporting him to enjoy the activities and interests that are important to him while promoting his independence and ensuring his safety. Provide companionship and support throughout the day and during overnight stays when required.

Accompany and transport the employer to regular activities, appointments and community-based services.

Support attendance at football matches, ice hockey games, cinema visits, concerts, theatre trips, bowling, Parkruns and other leisure activities.

Encourage independence while providing appropriate support and reassurance.

Assist with planning and participating in community outings.

Provide occasional personal care, including support with dressing, undressing, washing/showering and toileting when required.

Prepare simple meals and assist with everyday routines as needed.

Ensure the employer's safety at all times, particularly near roads, traffic and other potentially hazardous situations, as he has limited awareness of danger and requires close supervision in these environments.
