Summary

NorthCare Charity is the official charity of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA), supporting over 20,000 staff who deliver hospital and community healthcare services across Salford, Oldham, Bury and Rochdale. As ourCommunications and Impact Officer, you will play a key role in bringing our work to life. You will create engaging content, write compelling stories and design impactful communications that showcase the difference donations make, helping to inspire support and raise awareness of the charity.

Working closely with the fundraising team and colleagues across the NCA, you will support campaigns, events and appeals, ensuring our communications reach the right audiences and have maximum impact. This is a varied and creative role, where you’ll manage digital channels, develop content across multiple platforms and help shape how we communicate our impact.

We are looking for someone who is creative, proactive and passionate about storytelling, with the ability to build strong relationships and bring ideas to life. This is a home-based role with regular travel across NCA sites and involvement in events and activities as required.

• Create engaging content across a range of channels, including social media, website and internal communications, helping to bring NorthCare Charity’s work to life

• Write compelling stories and case studies that showcase the impact of donations on patients, families and NHS colleagues

• Design eye‑catching and high‑quality communications materials to support campaigns, events and fundraising activity

• Manage and develop the charity’s digital channels, growing reach, engagement and opportunities to support fundraising

• Work closely with the fundraising team to promote campaigns, events and appeals, ensuring maximum visibility and impact

• Build relationships across the NCA to identify and develop impactful stories and content opportunities

• Support media activity, helping to raise the profile of the charity across local and regional channels

• Celebrate and recognise supporters, fundraisers and partners through creative and engaging communications

• Monitor and report on communications activity, using insight to continuously improve performance

• Attend events and activities where required to capture content and support engagement

The Communications and Impact Officer will work closely with the Head of Fundraising and the wider team to develop and deliver engaging communications that raise the profile of NorthCare Charity, support fundraising activity and demonstrate the impact of charitable funding.

The postholder will create and manage high‑quality content across a range of channels, including social media, website and internal communications. This includes writing compelling stories and case studies, producing engaging written and visual content, and supporting the development of campaigns, events and appeals.

A key part of the role will be identifying and developing impactful stories from across the Northern Care Alliance, working with colleagues to showcase how charitable funding is making a difference. The postholder will build strong relationships across teams to source content, support communications activity and ensure consistent messaging.

The role also involves managing and developing digital channels, supporting media activity and promoting fundraising events and initiatives to maximise engagement and reach. The postholder will support donors, fundraisers and stakeholders through thoughtful and timely communications, helping to recognise their contribution and encourage ongoing support.

The Communications and Impact Officer will contribute to the development of marketing materials, case studies and partnership content, working closely with the fundraising team to support income generation activity. They will also monitor and report on communications performance, using insight to improve and develop activity.

The postholder will ensure that all communications are accurate, engaging and aligned with the charity’s brand and values, and that all activity is carried out in line with relevant policies, data protection and regulatory requirements.

The role requires a proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to manage workload independently while contributing positively to a supportive team environment. Flexibility will be required to attend events and activities where necessary.
