Summary
A healthcare facility near Macclesfield Railway Station is seeking a skilled Mechanical/Plumber to join their estates department on a temporary contract for 1 month, with the possibility of extension. The role offers £18.00 per hour PAYE or £22.50 per hour limited, working Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, totalling 37.5 hours per week.
The mechanical / plumber is a vital member of the estates department responsible for maintenance, repair, and statutory planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and plumbing systems within healthcare premises.
Job Duties
Perform PPM and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems, including industrial LTHW heating, domestic hot water (DHW), steam generation, and associated plant.
Undertake fault finding, calibration, and repair of plumbing, heating, ventilation, and steam systems.
Conduct inspections, commissioning, and testing in compliance with Hospital Technical Memorandums and safety regulations.
Operate and maintain boilers, steam raising plants, pressure systems, and ventilation distribution systems.
Liaise with managers, clinical staff, contractors, and suppliers regarding mechanical faults and parts procurement.
Manage safe isolation and changeover of mechanical plants when required.
Maintain detailed maintenance records, test certificates, and reports.
Participate in out-of-hours emergency repairs and on-call duties.
Use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with safety requirements.
Be prepared to hold competent person responsibilities, including medical gas pipeline systems (MGPS), legionella control, pressure systems, and related areas.
Follow technical drawings, specifications, and strict safety codes.
