The Role

The practice is seeking an autonomous Advanced Nurse Practitioner who is confident managing a wide range of acute and minor illness presentations within primary care. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, Physician Associates and wider clinical staff, providing safe, evidence-based care to a diverse patient population.

The post holder will be responsible for independently assessing, diagnosing, investigating and treating patients, making appropriate referrals where necessary and ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are consistently maintained.

Key Responsibilities

    • Independently assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute and minor illness.

    • Prescribe safely and effectively within scope of practice.

    • Request and interpret appropriate investigations.

    • Develop comprehensive management plans and provide evidence-based treatment.

    • Refer patients appropriately to secondary care and community services.

    • Manage patients with both acute and long-term conditions.

    • Deliver health promotion and preventative care interventions.

    • Work collaboratively with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team.

    • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records.

    • Contribute to clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives.

    • Support the education and development of colleagues and learners within the practice.

    • Participate in practice meetings and service development projects.

    Candidate Requirements

    The successful candidate will possess:

      • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.

      • MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent advanced practice qualification.

      • Independent Prescribing qualification (V300).

      • Experience working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner within primary care.

      • Excellent assessment, diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.

      • Ability to work autonomously while recognising professional limitations.

      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

      • A patient-centred approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality care.

      • Experience using GP clinical systems such as EMIS Web or SystmOne is desirable.
