Summary
As a Care Assistant, you will provide high-quality care and support to individuals within their own homes, enabling them to live independently while maintaining their dignity, privacy and wellbeing.
You will build trusting relationships with the people you support, delivering care that is tailored to their individual needs, preferences and wishes.
Key Responsibilities
You will support individuals with:
Personal Care:
Washing, bathing and showering
Dressing and grooming
Oral hygiene
Toileting and continence care
Skin care and pressure area care
Daily Living Support:
Preparing meals and drinks
Encouraging nutrition and hydration
Shopping and collecting prescriptions
Light household duties
Laundry and ironing
Medication Support:
Prompting or assisting with medication in accordance with company policies and training
Accurate completion of medication records
Emotional Wellbeing:
Providing companionship
Encouraging hobbies and interests
Reducing loneliness and social isolation
Supporting emotional wellbeing
Independence
Encouraging service users to do as much as possible for themselves
Promoting independence and confidence
Supporting rehabilitation goals where appropriate
Community Support
Escorting individuals to appointments
Supporting social activities
Encouraging community engagement
Record Keeping
You will:
Complete accurate care records
Report changes in health or wellbeing promptly
Maintain confidentiality at all times
Use electronic care planning systems where required
Safeguarding:
Safeguard vulnerable adults at all times.
Report concerns immediately.
Follow safeguarding procedures.
Promote dignity, respect and equality.
Health & Safety:
Follow infection prevention and control procedures.
Use moving and handling techniques safely.
Wear appropriate PPE.
Report accidents and incidents.
Maintain a safe working environment.
