Summary
Job summary GP Healthcare Alliance are seeking an experienced and motivated Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor to join our training team. The postholder will be responsible for the delivery of BLS training to clinical and non-clinical staff in line with Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) guidelines at various locations. This role is key to ensuring staff are competent and confident in responding to life-threatening emergencies in healthcare and community settings. Key responsibilities Deliver high-quality BLS training sessions, including adult, paediatric, and neonatal CPR, use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), management of choking and anaphylaxis, using adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs). Facilitate practical training, skills assessments, and scenario-based learning in accordance with Resuscitation Council UK standards. Maintain accurate records of training attendance, certification, and staff compliance. Contribute to the development and review of training materials, ensuring up-to-date evidence-based practice. Support the wider clinical education team in the delivery of mandatory training programmes. Participate in audits, evaluations, and quality improvement projects related to resuscitation training. Maintain and monitor resuscitation equipment used during training, ensuring functionality and cleanliness. Communication Communicate effectively with other team members. Communicate effectively with all customers recognising there may be a need for alternative methods of communication. Enthusiastic about health promotion and lifestyle change. Personal and people development Take responsibility for own developmental learning and performance, including participating in supervision. Take responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal development. Work with management on any new training requirements. To recognise and understand the roles and responsibilities of individuals working in the primary health care team. Health, safety and security Use the personal security systems within the workplace according to GPHA guidelines. Identify the risks involved in work activities and undertake them in a way that manages the risks. Other responsibilities Participate in annual appraisal which will include staff multi source feedback (MSF) Undertake additional training where necessary to provide these enhanced services Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g., confidentiality, data protection, health and safety. Service improvement Work with colleagues in the team on the development of current and new services and other initiatives. Quality Ensure own actions are consistent with clinical governance systems. Practice in accordance with agreed standards of care. Know GPHAs policies, especially the whistle-blowing policy, available in the practice staff handbook. Be able to manage your own time effectively. Equality and diversity Act in ways that recognise the importance of people's rights, interpreting them in a way that is consistent with procedures. Respect the privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of our customers, patients and carers. Information processes Record information and activities undertaken with clinician and administration in an accurate and timely fashion, using manual or computer systems as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality or information relating to GPHA employees and any other practice or individual we work with. Take the necessary precautions when transmitting information. Duties and Responsibilities: Attend annual updates and mandatory training as required. Highlight any gaps in knowledge/training needs to their line manager to allow them the opportunity to offer support to fulfil the duties of this post. Act in a manner that safeguards children and/or vulnerable adults as applicable to the role. Work in line with organisational policies and procedural guidelines. Clinical governance To remain up to date with all mandatory training. To meet responsibilities as an employee as set out in the organisations corporate and clinical policies.
