A friendly and inclusive primary school in Exeter is seeking a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated support team. The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them to engage in learning, develop confidence, and achieve personal success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with additional learning needs
- Assisting teachers in delivering inclusive and differentiated classroom activities
- Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social development
- Encouraging positive behaviour and active participation in lessons
- Helping pupils develop independence, confidence, and self-esteem
- Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external agencies
- Supporting pupils during breaktimes, educational activities, and school events
- Providing personal care support when required, while maintaining dignity and respect
- Promoting a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Your support will help pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, Education, or a related field
- Has previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting young learners
- Has a good understanding of SEND practices and behaviour management strategies
- Possesses excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Is proactive, flexible, and committed to meeting individual pupil needs
- Understands safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
- Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one
