Summary
Job Role: GP Practice Manager Location: Eastlands Medical Practice Salary: Dependent on experience Hours: Full-time [37.5 hours per week] Contract: Permanent The Practice Manager is responsible for the efficient operation, financial wellbeing, and strategic growth of the surgery. You will ensure compliance with all NHS guidelines, manage the practice staff, and maintain a safe and efficient environment, allowing our clinical team to focus entirely on patient care. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Staff Management Hire, train, and oversee all administrative and reception staff. Manage staff rotas, annual leave, and performance reviews. Foster a supportive, efficient, and collaborative team culture. Financial & Business Management Manage claims in a timely fashion and manage payroll processing. Optimise practice income through NHS contracts, QOF targets, and local enhanced services. Identify and implement new business opportunities to improve services. Human Resources . Handle recruitment, training, . Managing safety checks like references and DBS verification. . Preparing employment offers and contracts. . Arranging welcome schedules, training, and system setups Operations & NHS Compliance Ensure the practice fully complies with CQC (Care Quality Commission) regulations and health and safety laws. Manage the practice IT infrastructure, booking software, and phone systems. Oversee patient feedback, confidentiality protocols, and complaint procedures. Person Specification Essential Criteria: Proven experience in a management or leadership role (healthcare or NHS experience is highly desirable). Strong financial acumen with experience in payroll processing. Excellent communication, conflict-resolution, and interpersonal skills. High level of IT literacy and ability to use clinical systems (e.g., EMIS Web). Desirable Criteria: Direct experience dealing with CQC inspections and NHS contracting. A degree or professional qualification in business management or healthcare administration is desirable.
