Volunteer Co-ordinator
12 hours per week minimum – permanent
Job Purpose
At Hoole Community Centre, people are at the heart of everything we do. Every week, our volunteers help us run activities, support our café, welcome visitors and create a warm, inclusive space for our community.
We're looking for someone who is passionate about people and wants to help our volunteer programme flourish. You'll recruit, support and celebrate our volunteers, ensuring they have a positive experience from their very first enquiry through to becoming a valued member of our team.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Programme (Primary Responsibility)
Lead and coordinate the Centre's volunteer programme by:
- Recruiting and onboarding new volunteers.
- Managing volunteer enquiries and applications.
- Conducting volunteer interviews.
- Obtaining references and processing DBS checks where required.
- Delivering volunteer inductions.
- Coordinating mandatory volunteer training.
- Maintaining accurate volunteer records and databases.
- Keeping the Volunteer Handbook and volunteer policies up to date.
- Matching volunteers to suitable departments and opportunities.
- Working closely with other staff to understand volunteer requirements and support recruitment.
- Monitoring volunteer satisfaction, engagement and retention.
- Organising volunteer appreciation and recognition initiatives.
- Promoting volunteering opportunities within the local community.
Please note: Day-to-day management of volunteers sits with each Department Manager. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating and supporting the overall volunteer programme.
General Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and trustees.
- Promote the values and mission of Hoole Community Centre.
- Comply with safeguarding, GDPR, Health & Safety and all organisational policies.
- Attend meetings and occasional evening or weekend Centre events where required.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Centre Manager.
Depending on skills and experience, there is the potential to add additional duties to this role such as grant funding applications and community development work. These will be discussed at interview stage.
