Sodexo Government is looking for a dedicated and proactive FireMaintenance Operative to join our Facilities Management team at HMP Northumberland. This is an excitingopportunity to play a vital role in maintaining fire safety systems and helpingto provide a safe, secure environment for staff, visitors and those livingwithin the establishment.
Working alongsideour experienced Facilities Management team, you'll carry out plannedpreventative maintenance, inspections and repairs to fire safety equipment,ensuring compliance with industry standards and prison regulations.
What You'll Be Doing
As a FireMaintenance Operative, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and repairs to fire safety systems and equipment.
- Inspecting and maintaining portable firefighting equipment, including fire extinguishers, fire blankets, fire hoses and automatic fire alarm systems.
- Cleaning in-cell fire ventilation ducts and vents across the establishment.
- Completing planned maintenance on cell inundation points and carrying out fire smoke testing in accordance with NOMS specifications.
- Updating maintenance records accurately and maintaining equipment registers.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of site-wide plans for firefighting equipment locations and assets.
- Providing guidance and recommendations to management regarding portable firefighting equipment.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and specialist contractors to ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Participating in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours emergency response when required.
- Escorting contractors within the prison when necessary.
