Summary

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a HWRC Operative, on a 1.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £12.85 - £16.57 per hour

Summary:

The HWRC Operative will working under the direction of the Team Leader, Supervisor, or Grounds Manager, you will carry out a wide range of practical amenity horticulture duties, ensuring parks, open spaces, and landscaped areas are maintained to the highest standards in line with Grounds Maintenance Specifications.

Responsibilities:

Carry out all aspects of practical amenity horticulture to the required standards.

Perform grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, leaf clearance, and litter removal.

Plant and maintain bedding plants, trees, shrubs, and shrub beds, including pruning and division.

Undertake general soft landscaping works, including top-soiling, cultivation, seeding, and shrub-bed renewal.

Apply pesticides and chemicals safely in accordance with relevant regulations.

Set out, mark, and maintain sports facilities.

Qualification:

NVQ Level 1 in Horticulture (or equivalent), or a minimum of two years' proven practical experience in Grounds Maintenance.

Essentials:

Practical experience in horticulture, including grass cutting and the operation of horticultural machinery.

Experience using mowing equipment, strimmers, and other small plant machinery.

Knowledge of mechanical plant and equipment maintenance, or willingness to undertake training.

Knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Regulations.

Knowledge of plant identification and plant disorders
