Summary
Maintenance Engineer, Redditch, up to £40k
My client is an established manufacturing company based in Redditch. They are looking to add to their team by recruiting a new member to their maintenance team. They require a Maintenance Engineer who is a skilled, multi-disciplined engineer responsible for keeping production equipment and site services running safely and at full capability. The role is electrically biased, with strong mechanical and pneumatic competence across a varied manufacturing machines and associated equipment.
This is a hands-on, self-directed role. You will respond to breakdowns fast, plan and execute the PPM programme diligently, and works across the site without the need for close supervision. The ability to think clearly under production pressure, coordinate effectively with colleagues across departments, and know when to escalate is as important as the technical skill itself. The role ranges from fault-finding a PLC fault, carrying out a planned electrical inspection, managing a contractor on site and updating the CMMS before the shift ends. Candidate Requirements: -
*Recognised electrical engineering qualification or equivalent apprenticeship-served trade qualification.
*Demonstrable experience in an electrical maintenance role within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
*Competent in fault diagnosis on PLCs, drives and machine control systems — able to read electrical schematics, ladder logic and wiring diagrams without assistance.
*Solid mechanical and pneumatic maintenance competence — able to diagnose and repair faults across a broad range of mechanical plant and pneumatic circuits.
*Experience of power press maintenance in a pressings or stamping environment, with working knowledge of press guarding, clutch/brake systems and PUWER requirements.
*Experienced in planned preventative maintenance programmes — able to work to a schedule, prioritise competing demands and maintain accurate records.
*Able to work unsupervised; self-managing, methodical and reliable.
*Clear communicator — able to give a production team a straight answer on downtime without being evasive or over-technical.
Desirable / Advantageous: -
*18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) — current certification preferred.
*Hydraulic maintenance competence.
*CMMS experience — familiar with work order management and maintenance records systems.
*IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health and safety qualification.
This role is permanent; you will work your hours over 4 days Monday to Thursday.
