Summary
A Vacancy at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust.
The role entails supporting and empowering women in their choice of infant feeding and providing parents/care givers with additional education to support them in taking care of their babies in the neonatal/ transitional care unit and beyond.
The post-holder will also be expected to support the Specialist Infant Feeding Co-ordinator with the implementation and development of the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative, and maintain baby friendly standards throughout QEH as well as working with the multidisciplinary team on NICU to support accreditation of the Bliss Baby Charter to achieve and maintain gold standard status on NICU.
To support Neonatal Services to implement Unicef Baby Friendly Initiative Neonatal Standards cross the QEH site.
Be a clinical resource, providing visionary support and continuity, with a clear focus on resource on matters relating to infant feeding in Neonatal Services.
To act as a role model within NICU and demonstrate best clinical and professional practice and to provide appropriate support to women in respect of their feeding choices.
To provide clinical specialist infant feeding support to neonatal staff.
To support with, and facilitate training programmes related to the Unicef BFI Neonatal standards to all neonatal staff and non-neonatal staff where requested.
To work in close partnership with the Maternity Infant feeding lead and wider infant feeding team.
To promote positive culture change within Neonatal Services, by raising awareness of the importance of breastfeeding and infant feeding relationships for health and wellbeing and support the delivery of local campaigns and aspects of multi-agency projects.
To provide specialist training and mentorship on infant feeding to the multi-agency workforce at all levels including medical and nursing staff.
To support clinical governance through conducting knowledge and skills audits and staff audits utilising UNICEF Baby Friendly audit tools.
To promote evidence-based policies and procedures and use clinical presence to effect change.
