Summary

Main Purpose of the Role The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care within Mid Hampshire Healthcare's Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) Service across Dorset. Working alongside experienced clinicians and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of women's health services, ensuring patients receive safe, compassionate and effective care throughout their healthcare journey. The role combines clinical and administrative responsibilities, supporting the smooth operation of clinics while maintaining high standards of patient care, infection prevention and control, confidentiality and clinical governance. Main Duties The successful candidate will: Support clinicians during LARC and women's health clinics. Prepare clinical rooms, equipment and supplies. Undertake delegated clinical duties within agreed competencies. Record patient observations and maintain accurate clinical records. Support patients before, during and after clinical procedures. Chaperone patients where appropriate. Assist with clinic administration and appointment management. Maintain stock levels and ensure clinical environments remain clean and safe. Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality patient care. Support service development, quality improvement and clinical governance activities. Work flexibly across a number of clinic locations throughout Dorset. Person Specification The successful applicant will demonstrate: A caring, compassionate and professional approach. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational and time management skills. A flexible and adaptable approach to service delivery. The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A commitment to delivering safe, patient-centred care. Essential Criteria Healthcare Assistant qualification and/or relevant clinical experience. Experience working within a healthcare environment. Knowledge of infection prevention and control. Understanding of patient confidentiality and information governance. Good IT skills. Ability to travel between clinic locations across Dorset. Desirable Criteria Experience within women's health, sexual health, primary care or community healthcare. Experience using EMIS. Experience supporting minor procedures. Chaperone training. Experience undertaking clinical observations.
