A welcoming secondary school in Sandwell

is seeking a Graduate Speech and Language Therapist to join their Learning Support team on a long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to build experience within an educational setting while supporting pupils with speech, language, communication, and additional learning needs.

What's the role?

Working closely with the SENDCo, teaching staff and pastoral teams, you will support students to access learning, develop communication skills and build confidence.

You will:

  • Support students with speech, language and communication needs
  • Provide 1:1 and small group intervention support
  • Assist pupils with SEND, including ASD and SEMH needs
  • Help students to access the curriculum within mainstream lessons
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals
  • Build positive relationships that encourage student progress and wellbeing
  • What are we looking for?

    We're looking for someone who combines strong professional knowledge with a compassionate, student-focused approach:

  • A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
  • QTS - Qualified Teacher Status desirable but not essential
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs
  • HCPC registration (or currently working towards registration)
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a specialist or independent school setting
  • Strong understanding of speech, language, and social communication difficulties
  • Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach
  • Excellent communication and collaborative working skills
