Long Term Futures is seeking a confident and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive secondary school in Tower Hamlets. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
Working closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff, and the school's inclusion team, you will provide targeted behavioural support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will help pupils develop positive relationships, improve classroom engagement, and build the confidence and resilience needed to succeed in school.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group behavioural interventions for students requiring additional support.
- Build positive, professional relationships that promote trust, confidence, and improved engagement with learning.
- Support teachers in implementing behaviour management strategies and individual behaviour plans.
- Help students regulate their emotions, resolve conflict, and develop effective coping strategies.
- Promote high standards of behaviour while maintaining a calm, consistent, and supportive approach.
- Monitor behaviour, attendance, punctuality, and wellbeing, escalating concerns where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, external agencies, and the wider pastoral team to support student progress.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture where every student has the opportunity to succeed.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working with young people in a school, alternative provision, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, or similar setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations effectively.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A resilient, patient, and empathetic approach when supporting students with behavioural or emotional needs.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary school team.
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Experience supporting students with SEMH, Autism (ASC), ADHD, or other additional needs would be advantageous.
