Learning Mentor - September Start
Full Time • Long Term • Term Time Only Tower Hamlets £105-£115 per day DOE
A warm, inclusive and community‑focused primary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a committed and proactive Learning Mentor to join their team from September. This is a full‑time, long‑term role ideal for graduates who are passionate about supporting children's wellbeing, emotional development and academic progress.
About the Role
As a Learning Mentor, you will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning - whether academic, behavioural, emotional or social. You will work closely with class teachers, pastoral leads and the SEN team to ensure pupils receive consistent, targeted support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small‑group mentoring sessions to pupils who require additional support
- Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and positive learning behaviours
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, social skills and engagement in learning
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and SEN professionals
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of interventions
- Promote positive behaviour and act as a calm, reliable role model
- Encourage attendance, punctuality and readiness to learn
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, parents and staff
What We're Looking For
- A degree is essential (Psychology, Criminology, Social Sciences, Education Studies, Arts or related fields highly desirable)
- Previous experience supporting children or young people (school, youth work, mentoring, tutoring or similar)
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
- Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs
- Ability to follow safeguarding procedures consistently and professionally
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
