Summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and ambitious Directorate Manager to provide senior operational and transformational leadership across a portfolio of services within the Clinical Support Services Division.

This is an exciting opportunity for a high-performing operational leader who is passionate about improving services, delivering high-quality patient care, and leading teams to achieve exceptional outcomes. The post will initially focus on the Radiology and Imaging directorate , one of the Trusts largest and most dynamic services.  Providing leadership across operational performance, Finance, Workforce and quality. 

Whilst the role will initially have a primary focus on Radiology & Imaging, there may be opportunity over time to include leadership of cross-divisional projects, major transformation programmes and strategic improvement initiatives across the wider Clinical Support Services Division. This presents an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking to broaden their leadership experience and contribute to some of the Trust's most significant service development programmes.

As Directorate Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring services are safe, effective, efficient and financially sustainable. You will lead operational delivery while supporting the development and implementation of strategic plans that align with Trust priorities and national NHS objectives.

You will provide visible leadership to operational and administrative teams, working in partnership with clinical leaders to drive service improvement, deliver performance targets, manage budgets and develop innovative solutions to meet changing patient and service needs

The Trust consists of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, the Churchill Hospital and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operational management of designated services.

• Deliver quality, performance, workforce and financial objectives.

• Develop and implement service improvement and transformation programmes.

• Support delivery of business planning, workforce planning and financial recovery initiatives.

• Manage income and expenditure budgets, ensuring effective financial stewardship.

• Monitor performance against key operational and clinical targets and take action to address variances.

• Lead the development of business cases and service development proposals.

• Ensure robust governance, risk management and compliance arrangements are in place.

• Build effective partnerships with clinical teams, corporate services, commissioners and external stakeholders.

• Support delivery of cost improvement programmes and productivity initiatives.

• Provide regular assurance and performance reporting to divisional leadership teams.
