Waking Night Support Worker

Pay Rate: £14.50–£15.25 per hour
Are you an experienced and compassionate Support Worker seeking flexible agency work? We are looking for dedicated Waking Night Support Workers to provide high-quality overnight care and support to adults with a variety of support needs in the Blackwood area.
This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference in people’s lives by promoting safety, independence, and wellbeing throughout the night. As part of a trusted care team, you will deliver person-centred support while benefiting from the flexibility and variety that agency work can offer.
A valid All Wales Manual Handling Passport is essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver person-centred overnight support tailored to each individual’s assessed needs, preferences, and care plans.
Provide personal care, continence support, and assistance with bedtime and morning routines while maintaining dignity and respect.
Carry out regular wellbeing checks and ensure individuals remain safe, comfortable, and supported throughout the night.
Accurately complete care records, incident reports, and handover notes to maintain continuity of care.
Offer emotional reassurance and support to individuals who may experience anxiety, distress, or sleep disturbances.
Assist with mobility and transfers using approved moving and handling techniques in accordance with current legislation and best practice.
Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies, safeguarding concerns, and challenging situations.
Maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment, undertaking light domestic duties where required.
Work effectively both independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
Valid All Wales Manual Handling Passport (Essential)
Minimum of 6 months’ UK-based experience in a care or support setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A caring, patient, and professional approach
Ability to remain alert and responsive during waking night shifts
Flexible and reliable with a commitment to delivering high standards of care
Ability to work independently and use initiative when required
