Miltoncross is an academy at the heart of its community that has very high aspirations for all of its staff and students. We

operate by the core values of Work Hard. Be Kind. No Excuses in order to foster a learning community where everybody values each

other and everybody values the power of learning. We offer a supportive and collegiate working environment where we all have the

same goal - outstanding learning for children. We are now one year into building a fresh, optimistic and sustainable culture where

staff and students are always fulfilled because they know that they are doing their best work for the right reasons. Our systems

and structures are designed to liberate staff and students, freeing us all up from the challenges of uncertainty and relentless

workload which in turn enables creativity, excitement and essentially, it makes coming to school enjoyable for all! To understand

this better, do ask to read our Blueprint for Brilliance which outlines everything we do, why and how. This could really help you

make an informed decision about whether this is your next career move or not. We think it should be! Staff and students enjoy

their days in excellent modern buildings with superb facilities.

We are located on the West of Portsmouth and access is easy from the M27 or A27. Many staff commute easily from Southampton,

Hampshire, Isle of Wight and West Sussex either by car or by public transport. The Learning Coach is a dedicated advocate for a

small cohort of pupils, providing tailored academic and pastoral support to help them flourish. Through personalised planning,

in-class assistance, and close collaboration with families and staff, the Learning Coach ensures that each student’s unique needs

are met and their progress is regularly reviewed and tailored. To always practise and teach the academy’s core values: Work Hard.

Be Kind. No Excuses. At Miltoncross Academy we are resolutely dedicated to ensuring that those students most in need are very well

supported to succeed academically in school. It is our ambition that all of our disadvantaged students leave school with academic

qualifications that match their more affluent peers and that their success is never hampered by any existing disadvantage.

This role allocates disadvantaged students with a dedicated in-school academic and pastoral support, whose primary role is to help

their tutees overcome barriers to strong outcomes. This is done by meeting each tutee on a regular basis, setting goals, liaising

with teachers, monitoring attendance and progress and liaising very closely with parents and families alongside any additional

practical support. This role is key to our strategy to raise disadvantaged students’ outcomes and the successful applicant will

report directly to and work closely with Teachers and support staff alike. The successful candidate will be working in an

established team of Learning coaches and supported by our senior Learning coach team and as such the successful candidate will

need to be a strong team player who is willing and keen to help and support others. It is a role that has the potential for the

right candidate to be hugely rewarding but it does require staff who are very strong, empathetic listeners and communicators and

who are determined in seeking the very best for their tutees. We think this is a really exciting opportunity to work 1-1 with

students and make a real difference to young people’s lives

Please be aware that if we receive suitable applicants, we reserve the right to interview candidates early and if appropriate

close the advert before the listed closing date. As such if you are interested in the role I would recommend applying at the

earliest opportunity. Full safeguarding and tutoring training will be given alongside clear line management and team meetings to

ensure significant impact of your work is achieved. Miltoncross is a cheerful place to work where everybody pulls in the same

direction and works hard to ensure that we give our students the excellent service that they deserve. If you wish to discuss the

role or come for a look round, please contact the Deputy Head Teacher (Hayley Forbes) at hayley.forbes@miltoncross-tkat.org.
