SHOP FOREMAN & TECHNICAL MANAGER | £40,000 – £50,000 + BONUSES
📍Edinburgh / Central Scotland | Full-Time, Permanent | 37 Hours Per Week
We are recruiting on behalf of a growing manufacturing business based in Edinburgh / Central Scotland. This is a dual-purpose role requiring both hands-on workshop leadership and CAD design capability.
The Role
You will divide your time between the production floor and the design office, taking responsibility for both operational management and technical design.
Workshop and Production:
- Lead and mentor to a small team
- Oversee day-to-day workflow, scheduling, and raw materials procurement
- Build precision manufacturing jigs from engineering drawings
- Manage training and development of the fabrication team
Design and CAD:
- Create detailed 3D parametric models and assemblies using Autodesk Fusion 360
- Generate Bills of Materials and maintain organised design files
- Fabricate and test prototypes of new products
Health, Safety and Compliance:
- Conduct digital safety checks on all designs prior to fabrication
- Maintain full HSE compliance across the workshop
- Enforce PPE protocols and manage welding fume extraction
Requirements:
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Fusion 360 (parametric modelling, sheet metal, assemblies, automated BOM)
- Expert MIG/TIG welding and steel fabrication skills
- Proven experience building precision manufacturing jigs
- Strong understanding of health and safety standards and PPE requirements
- Confident leadership and team development experience
- Knowledge of quality or regulatory manufacturing standards
Package
- Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 dependent on experience
