Summary
• To play a leading role in the planning and organisation of church activities for children
• To create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children and their families can connect with the church community and explore the Christian faith
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Key activities will be to help with Sunday Club on a Sunday morning during our 10am service, Sunbeams on Thursday morning (our under 5s pre-school group) and Messy Church – monthly on Sunday afternoons.
• Support the Sunday Club leader in planning, organising and the delivery of activities and teaching for the weekly Sunday club for children between the ages of 3 and 11 during the Sunday 10am church service
• Support the Sunbeams leader in planning organising and the delivery of activities for the weekly Thursday morning pre-school (under 5s)
• Plan, organise and deliver a monthly Messy Church event on Sunday afternoons each month.
TEAM DEVELOPMENT
• Recruit, support, and encourage a team of volunteers for Messy Church
• Organise and ensure adequate staffing for each Messy Church
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
• Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and families
• Help and welcome new families into the life of the church
SAFEGUARDING AND ADMINISTRATION
• Ensure that all children's activities comply with church safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records, attendance registers, consent forms, and relevant documentation
• Participate in safeguarding training and ensure volunteers do likewise
• Promote the welfare, health and safety of children in all activities by ensuring, in conjunction with the church safeguarding officer, that:
o Safety procedures are known and understood
o Safeguarding procedures are in place and known to leaders
o Appropriate clearances are obtained for those who work with children.
CHURCH LIFE
• Work collaboratively with other church leaders and volunteers
• Help and welcome new families into the life of the church
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
• To uphold and support the vision, values, and ethos of the church
• To work in accordance with church policies, including safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection.
• Develop your skills as a Sunday School Teaching Assistant by attending appropriate courses, and undertaking study as appropriate and additional reading.
