About the role

- Support Worker

- Part Time - 30 hours per week

- Two long days and two sleep ins a week.

- £12.85 per hour

- Stevenage, Hertfordshire

We're looking for a Support Worker to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a gentleman in his mid-30s who lives independently in his own home in Stevenage. He is looking for someone who can build a positive relationship with him, share a laugh, and encourage him to enjoy the hobbies and routines that are important to him.

This gentleman has a fantastic sense of humour and thrives on social interaction. In fact, if you enjoy a good chat, you'll fit right in. He loves talking about music, popular culture, television soaps, films and YouTube, and can happily spend hours chatting with someone who shares his enthusiasm. Ariana Grande and Rihanna are particular favourite artists, and you'll often find him enjoying his iPad, playing on his Wii, or watching films and DVDs.

When he's out and about, he enjoys trips to the cinema, meals out, swimming, bowling and going for walks. Part of your role will be encouraging and motivating him to access his community, maintain an active lifestyle, and build confidence. Every day offers an opportunity to support him to make choices, achieve personal goals and enjoy the life he wants to live.

As a Support Worker, you'll provide support with everyday living tasks, including meal preparation, medication administration (creams and inhalers), and prompting with personal care, such as applying cream after bathing. You'll work in a person-centred way that focuses on what he can do for himself, encouraging independence, developing life skills and recognising every achievement along the way.

This is a lone-working role with shifts typically covering 7:30am until 10:30pm with a sleep-in, working every other weekend.

About You

You don't need previous experience to join us. We're looking for someone who shares our values of Ambition, Courage, Integrity, Partnership and Respect, and has a positive, person-centred approach.

You'll be patient, reliable and a great communicator, with a good sense of humour and a genuine interest in supporting people to live independently. You'll feel comfortable encouraging someone to access their community, enjoy their hobbies, develop life skills and achieve their goals.

Experience isn't essential, as we'll provide full training. What matters most is your enthusiasm, willingness to learn and commitment to helping someone live a great life.
