Resident Manager – The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Resident Manager to join The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa, a
renowned luxury country house hotel at the heart of the Bolton Abbey Estate in the Yorkshire Dales.
The Role
As Resident Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the hotel, ensuring the highest standards of
service, presentation and guest satisfaction are consistently achieved. Working closely with Heads of Department, you will lead
and inspire teams across all operational areas, creating a positive culture that motivates colleagues to deliver outstanding
hospitality experiences.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a visible presence throughout the hotel. You will oversee operational performance,
support departmental development, manage costs and resources, and ensure all activities are delivered in line with company
standards, policies and procedures. You will also play a key role in maintaining profitability through effective labour
management, cost control and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and revenue generation.
The successful candidate will have a strong focus on guest satisfaction, confidently handling feedback and resolving issues where
necessary while continually looking for opportunities to enhance the customer journey. Alongside operational responsibilities, you
will support event delivery, workforce planning and departmental succession planning to ensure the continued success of the hotel.
The Candidate
We are looking for an exceptional hospitality professional with previous senior management experience within a quality hotel
environment. You will be a natural leader with a genuine passion for delivering memorable guest experiences and developing
high-performing teams.
You will possess strong commercial awareness and financial acumen, together with the ability to balance guest expectations with
operational efficiency. Excellent communication skills, confidence in dealing with guests and colleagues at all levels, and a
hands-on approach are essential. A sound understanding of hotel operations, including Food & Beverage, Health & Safety, HR, Sales
& Marketing and compliance, will enable you to thrive in this varied and rewarding position.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, professional and customer-focused, with the ability to lead by example and create an
environment where colleagues feel supported, engaged and empowered to succeed.
