Summary

We are seeking a proactive, organised and customer-focused Tenant Liaison & Property Compliance Officer to join our Housing and Resettlement service.

About the role

This is an important and varied role supporting the effective management of the Council’s temporary accommodation. You will help ensure that properties are safe, well maintained, and compliant, while also providing practical support, advice and reassurance to residents who may be experiencing difficult and complex circumstances.

You will work closely with residents, contractors, internal teams, and partner agencies to maintain accommodation standards, support tenancy sustainment, arrange repairs and inspections, and ensure key property compliance requirements are met.

You will:

• Carry out regular visits and inspections of temporary accommodation, identifying repairs, maintenance issues and any health and safety concerns.

• Support the management of key property compliance areas, including gas, electrical, fire, asbestos, water hygiene, and other safety requirements.

• Liaise with residents, contractors, suppliers, and utility providers to ensure works are completed effectively and residents are kept informed.

• Undertake tenancy sign-ups, explain licence conditions, and provide practical support to help residents settle into and sustain their accommodation.

• Maintain accurate records, monitor outstanding jobs, and help ensure empty properties are ready for reletting as quickly and safely as possible.

• Work sensitively with vulnerable people, applying safeguarding awareness, risk assessment and a calm, professional approach when dealing with challenging situations.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

Experienced in housing management, property maintenance, facilities management, or a related residential setting.

Confident in identifying repairs, managing property inspections, and understanding health, safety, and compliance requirements.

A strong communicator who can build positive working relationships with residents, colleagues, contractors, and partner agencies.

Highly organised, able to manage a varied workload, keep accurate records and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Calm, resilient and diplomatic, with the ability to manage difficult conversations and challenging behaviour professionally.

Compassionate and committed to supporting vulnerable people, safeguarding children and adults, and helping residents achieve positive outcomes.

Please note, you must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application; we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

Closing date for completed applications is Wednesday 12th August at midnight.
