Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager will support the successful delivery of projects by working closely with Project Managers, site teams, and stakeholders. You will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard, meeting programme, cost, and quality expectations.

Working alongside Project Managers, you’ll be involved in delivering high-profile retail, commercial and refurbishment projects, giving you exposure to every stage of the project lifecycle.

This role is designed for someone looking to progress into a Project Management position. You’ll receive mentoring from experienced Senior Project Managers, together with ongoing professional development.

Our team delivers a variety of refurbishment and construction projects for some of the UK’s leading retail and commercial clients. Every project is different, providing the opportunity to develop technical, commercial and leadership skills while working alongside experienced professionals in a supportive environment.

This is a key supporting role within the team, contributing to strong communication, collaboration, and a culture built on Building, Sharing, and Caring throughout project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with the successful delivery of allocated refurbishment and construction projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover.

• Support the management of projects to ensure they are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, company policies and procedures and all statutory requirements.

• Assist in developing and monitoring project programmes, identifying potential risks and escalating issues where appropriate.

• Attend and contribute to project, site and client meetings, preparing reports, progress updates and meeting minutes as required.

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.

• Interpret contract documentation, specifications, design information and construction drawings, to support the successful delivery of projects.

• Support the co-ordination and monitoring of subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure programme, quality and safety standards are achieved.

• Monitor project progress and support the resolution of day-to-day site and project issues.

• Assist with project cost control, including variations, valuations, procurement and commercial reporting.

• Support the procurement of materials and plant, ensuring resources are available and in line with project programmes.

• Assist with quality inspections and ensure defects are identified and resolved promptly.

• Support tendering and pre-construction activities alongside the estimating and commercial teams where required.

• Promote a collaborative working environment that reflects the Company’s values of Building, Sharing and Caring.

• Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role and support continued professional development towards becoming a Project Manager.
