About the role

You’ll play a central role in ensuring Calderdale makes the most of regional opportunities—particularly through the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) and the evolving devolution agenda. Key responsibilities include:

Leading regional policy coordination, ensuring Calderdale is well positioned within regional programmes

Translating national and regional policy into local action, identifying and securing funding opportunities

Horizon scanning and programme development to keep Calderdale ahead of emerging agendas

Supporting fund management and oversight, including Gainshare and the transition to Integrated Settlement

Building strong partnerships to ensure Calderdale’s priorities are championed regionally

We’re looking for someone who is:

Experienced in programme and policy work, ideally within economic development or regeneration

Able to interpret complex policy and turn it into practical briefings

A strong communicator and collaborator, comfortable working across organisations and sectors

Analytical and forward-thinking, with the ability to spot opportunities early

Proactive, curious and solutions-focused, with the energy to drive work forward

Most importantly, you’ll care about making a difference—and thrive in a team that does too.

This role is based in the UK. Home Office guidance states that candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK prior to commencing employment, either as a UK or Irish citizen, under the EU Settlement scheme or having secured any other relevant work visa.
