Summary

Calderdale Council is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to join our dynamic Public Health team as a Schools Road Safety Manager. This is a key role in maximising the benefit of the journey to school; ensuring the journey is as safe as possible, increasing physical activity, and maximising environmental sustainability.

The role is embedded in the Public Health Team who is responsible for protecting and improving the health and wellbeing of Calderdale residents and to help deliver services that meet the needs of the population. Our priorities and ways of working are set out in Calderdale’s multi-agency Health and Wellbeing Strategy. The majority of factors that influence people’s health and wellbeing are social, economic and environmental, so multi-agency working is at the heart of the work we do. We work with colleagues in other parts of the Council; other public sector partners, the voluntary, community and faith sector; schools and education settings, businesses and with residents.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and proactive individual to lead the provision of support to schools including management of the Calderdale School Crossing Patrol (SCP) Service.

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for schools with regards to road safety and will build strong relationships with schools and road safety colleagues within the Council. You will be able to respond to queries, incidents, and complaints effectively.
