Summary

Workshop Vehicle Engineer (HGV Technician) Day Shifts | Salary up to £54,000 + Overtime

Our client is a well-established business with a long-standing reputation for delivering first-class fleet solutions. Their commitment to high workshop standards plays a key role in ensuring exceptional service and customer satisfaction.

The Role You’ll be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a varied and diverse fleet. This is a hands-on role offering exposure to a wide range of vehicles, including:

  • Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs)
  • Refuse Collection Vehicles (RCVs)
  • Road sweepers
  • Hook loaders
  • Light commercial vehicles (vans)
  • Trailers and tippers
  • Key Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Routine and preventative maintenance
    • MOT preparation
    • Servicing to DVSA standards
    • 6- or 8-weekly safety inspections
    • Diagnosing and rectifying faults
    • Chassis and fabrication work
    • Working with hydraulics and pneumatics
    • Electrical diagnostics, wiring, and repairs
    • Continuous improvement of vehicle standards

      You will ideally have:

      • A recognised qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent)
      • A strong understanding of commercial vehicle mechanics
      • A proactive attitude and commitment to high-quality workmanship
      • Desirable (but not essential):

        • IRTEC accreditation
        • EV/Hybrid vehicle qualifications
        • HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence
