Role OverviewAs a Security Officer at the London Transport Museum, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of visitors, staff, collections, and assets. You will provide a professional security presence, conduct visitor searches, monitor CCTV systems, carry out patrols throughout the museum and galleries, and deliver excellent customer service while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
-Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
-Welcome and assist visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
-Conduct security searches of visitors, bags, and personal belongings in accordance with site procedures.
-Monitor and control access to the museum, staff areas, and restricted locations.
-Carry out regular patrols of galleries, exhibitions, retail areas, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and external perimeters.
-Protect museum collections, exhibits, and assets from theft, damage, or unauthorised interference.
-Monitor CCTV systems and associated security equipment in accordance with site procedures and data protection requirements.
-Identify, investigate, and report suspicious activity, incidents, and security breaches through CCTV monitoring.
-Retrieve and preserve CCTV footage for investigations in accordance with company policy and GDPR requirements.
-Maintain accurate CCTV logs and complete all associated documentation.
-Operate access control, intruder alarm, and other electronic security systems as required.
-Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, fire alarms, suspicious activity, and customer welfare concerns and provide first aid.
-Complete all assigned duties as directed by supervisors and management.
-Report and act on any security breaches to line managers and the 24-hour control room.
-Assist with security, safety, criminal, or internal investigations.
-Log all incidents accurately and promptly within the reporting system.
-Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and regulatory standards.
-Follow all site-specific Assignment Instructions (AIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Risk Assessments (RAs), memos, and toolbox talks.
-Wear and maintain a valid SIA licence while on duty.
-Attend training courses and site briefings as directed.
-Comply with all legal, health, safety, and security requirements of the role.

RequirementsEssential:
-Previous security experience.
-Valid Door Supervisor SIA Licence.
-Valid CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) SIA Licence.
-Good written and verbal communication skills.
-Basic IT skills and the ability to use incident reporting systems.
Desirable:
-Experience working within a museum, cultural venue, visitor attraction, or heritage site.
-Experience conducting customer screening or search procedures.
-First Aid qualification.
-Experience using CCTV, access control, and security management systems.
