Summary

We are looking for a motivated person to join our established Trauma and Orthopaedic (T&O) research team at Barts Health NHS Trust. This is a 1.0 WTE fixed-term role (12 months), open to registered Nurses and Physiotherapists.

The post holder will support the coordination and delivery of clinical research studies across the Trauma & Orthopaedic portfolio, ensuring safe and effective delivery in line with study protocols, ICH-GCP and Trust policies. The role involves working with patients and clinical teams to identify and recruit participants, obtain informed consent, coordinate study visits, and collect accurate clinical data, maintaining a high standard of patient-centred care throughout.

You will play a key role in delivering a varied portfolio of clinical research studies, working closely with patients and clinical teams to support recruitment, consent and study delivery. This is a patient-facing role where you will help ensure studies are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

1. Supports the coordination and delivery of clinical research studies within the Trauma and Orthopaedic service, in line with study protocols, ICH-GCP and Trust policy

2. Identifies and recruits’ patients to all Orthopaedic/MSK supported trials across inpatient and outpatient settings

3. Obtain informed consent and provide clear information to patients and carers

4. Co-ordinate study visits and ensure accurate data collection and documentation

5. Maintain study files and electronic data systems in line with regulatory requirements

6. Works collaboratively across the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to support safe and s effective study delivery (provide expertise in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical research protocols)

7. Contribute to delivery across wider portfolio and support cross site working

8. Share learning from research activity and contribute to improving research processes and pathways (Disseminates protocol information and research results to health care professionals by one-to-one teaching, written information and/or in-service education classes)

9. Demonstrates autonomy as well as the ability to collaborate within the clinical team in identifying and meeting the needs of the patient and his/her significant others during various stages of the healthcare continuum.

10. Develops programmes of care for patients participating in clinical research.

The team works across the Royal London Hospital, Whipps Cross Hospital and Newham University Hospital (BHOC – Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre). You will be part of a well-established research team, with opportunities to contribute to studies across the wider research portfolio and work collaboratively with colleagues in the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) and other specialties.

This is a varied role with opportunities to develop research skills, build relationships across multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to improving how research is delivered across the Trust.
