Summary

We are a team of paediatric physiotherapists based with Bury Community Team. We see children from 0 – 19 years with acute, chronic and long-term conditions. We provide a musculoskeletal service in clinics, as well as visiting children with developmental delay or disabilities in their homes, nurseries and schools.

This post will provide paediatric physiotherapy within the Acute and Ongoing Needs and the SEND pathways

This post will provide physiotherapy assessment and management of children with musculoskeletal conditions, children presenting with developmental delay, complex neurological conditions and genetic conditions.

To educate and train other health care professionals, parents/carers and the wider multi-agency team.

Band 5 experience working in Paediatrics in community services

To accept delegated clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, seeking advice as required and organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

To provide assessment and advice for the multi-disciplinary team and actively participate in MDT meetings . 

To provide specialist assessment, treatment and intervention to children with musculoskeletal, developmental and long-term neurological conditions.

To ensure effective internal and external two-way communication with patients, carers and all other health, educational and social care professionals regarding all aspects of patient care, providing advice and support as appropriate to meet the patient or service needs.

To work with other M.D.T colleagues in a professional manner in order to provide the optimum service possible

To decide priorities for own caseload, balancing other patient related and professional demands with support and guidance as required.

This may include the treatment of complex patients in a manner that respects people’s choice, privacy, dignity and individuality.

To demonstrate physical ability to carry out physiotherapy assessment and interventions including manual therapy techniques and therapeutic handling. 

To use a range of manual physiotherapy skills when implementing a programme of care demonstrating highly developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients.
